THE COPSE

This is a small area of woodland on the corner of White Street and Stoke Road alongside the new houses of St James’s Court. It is a safe route off the busy Stoke Road and gives easy access to the sports fields up the steps from White Street. Please take care when crossing at the junction of White Street and Stoke Road.

Here, there are many mature trees, some with bird boxes, as well as new planting.

There are snowdrops and primroses in spring, while in autumn it is a good place to see fungi or collect conkers.

Slow-worms have been seen here moving between the undergrowth and log piles.

Please let us know if you see any activity around the nesting boxes in the Copse.
